BBC reporter Ray Gosling has used a programme about euthanasia to admit helping his terminally-ill former partner to die.

Mr Gosling, 70, made the admission in the course of an Inside Out documentary programme broadcast in the East Midlands.

Assisted suicide remains a criminal offence in the UK, but guidelines issued in September by the director of public prosecutions set out the factors which weigh in favour of and against prosecution in different cases.
