Control order 'tore apart my family'


The government's independent reviewer of terrorism legislation, Lord Carlile, has concluded that the system of control orders should stay in place.

Lord Carlile said he had been unable to devise a suitable alternative -and that abandoning the system entirely could have a damaging effect on national security.

Cerie Bullivant, who was under a control order from 2006 to 2008 until a High Court judge ruled that there were no reasonable grounds to suspect he was involved in terrorism.

He spoke to BBC about how it affected his life.
