Campaigner Pamela Wells is calling for better treatment of the elderly in care homes.

She was spurred on after she felt both she and her husband were treated badly by staff at the home he was living in.

The Care Quality Commission's annual report rated one in four care homes for the elderly as being adequate at best and found large variations in areas and providers.

Eight local authorities in England have been told they must urgently improve their social care services for adults.
