Some of the UK's favourite Christmas carols have been attacked by a leading Church of England bishop as having "nonsense" lines.

The Bishop of Croydon, Rt Rev Nick Baines, considers one such hymn to be Away in a Manger which he says no adult can sing "without embarrassment"

He also said Christmas was being sentimentalised into a fairy story, which he said was "tragic".
