Union chief on 'difficult and complex' dispute

The union chief appointed to broker the talks between the Royal Mail and postal workers has said further negotiations will be needed next week to resolve the ''difficult'' dispute.

The strike is in its second day, resulting in a backlog of 35 million items of undelivered mail.

TUC head Brendan Barber said he hoped fresh talks would result in a breakthrough.
