Puma helicopter 'flew too fast'

A coroner giving his verdict into the deaths of three men after a military training exercise in North Yorkshire, has ruled that the pilot did not have the skills to carry out the low-flying manoeuvre he was attempting.

Pilot Flight Lieutenant David Sale and Sergeant Phillip Burfoot from 33 Squadron died in the crash in August 2007. Army recruit Private Sean Tait died in hospital two days later.

The 12 men on board the Puma aircraft were heard laughing moments before it crashed near Catterick Garrison.

Caroline Wyatt reports.
