The new UK Supreme Court has replaced the Law Lords as the highest court of appeal in the land.

The £59m court is opposite the Houses of Parliament in central London. Its building, in Westminster, includes a public cafe and education facilities.

For the first time, television cameras have been fitted into the courtrooms meaning that many hearings will be available to broadcasters.

Daniel Sandford reports.
