More than 220 daredevil riders have descended on East Sussex from around the world to take part in the fifth leg of the World Downhill Skateboarding and Street Luge Championships.

Thousands watched as skaters risked life and limb, reaching speeds of up to 60 Mph (97 Km/h) as they raced down a steep track on skateboards and street luge boards.

Tom Worsley, chairman of the UK Gravity Sports Association, describes the sport, which travels around the world in a similar way to Formula One, as "hideously dangerous".
