There have been three cases of walkers being trampled to death by cows in a four-week period this summer.

It is thought a lack of knowledge of the potential threat cows pose, and a misguided urge to protect their pet dogs, may be contributing to the deaths.

Former cabinet minister David Blunkett tells how he was injured by a cow in June while walking his dog.
