Relatives of those who died in the bombing of a US plane over Lockerbie have voiced anger after the man convicted of the attack was welcomed home in Libya.

Crowds in Tripoli greeted Abdelbaset Ali al-Megrahi, after he was freed from prison on compassionate grounds.

Scotland's First Minister Alex Salmond defended the decision to release Megrahi.

He said that the scenes in Libya had been "insensitive" but Scotland was "not responsible for how the Libyan government or the Libyan people behave".
