The mother of Baby Peter and her boyfriend, who were jailed for causing the toddler's death, have been named publicly after a court order protecting their identities expired.

Tracey Connelly and Steven Barker subjected Baby Peter Connelly to systematic abuse at their home in Haringey in north London.

It has also been disclosed that the couple's lodger, Jason Owen, who was also jailed for causing Peter's death, is Barker's brother.

In the mid-1990s, the two brothers were charged with assaulting their own grandmother, Hilda Barker, who lived in Whitstable, Kent.

Her neighbour at the time, David Cole, recalls what happened.
