A 12-hour lawnmower race in West Sussex had to be abandoned after poor weather made racing conditions impossible.

Fifty teams started the race at 2000 BST on Saturday night, but it did not take long for them to churn up the track.

By midnight 40 teams had pulled out of the race, and at 0130 BST officials raised the red flag to halt proceedings, with the "Average Joe's" team deemed the winner after completing the most laps.
