Professor Steve Fields, Chairman of the Royal College of GPs, has welcomed the government's announcement of a national pandemic flu service.
Speaking to the BBC's Huw Edwards, Professor Field said that the service was one of a number of suggestions made by the college, and praised the government's swift response.
But he added that he had expected drop in numbers of cases, rather than a rise, as schools close for the summer holiday.
