A father of one of the first soldiers to die in Afghanistan has called on the defence secretary to supply better equipment to the British Army.

Tony Philippson said that night vision goggle issue had been addressed but soldiers "should have been equipped three years ago" with better vehicles.

Tony Philippson's son, Captain James Philippson, was killed in a fire fight in Afghanistan in 2006.
