Soldier dies as Afghan toll rises

A British soldier has become the seventh to die in a week of fighting in Afghanistan, as the Defence Secretary warned "more lives would be lost".

The serviceman, from the Light Dragoons, died in an explosion near Gereshk in Helmand Province on Tuesday night, bringing the total number of British deaths in the country since the mission began in 2001 to 176.
