Britain's heatwave set to continue

Britain's heatwave is expected to go on until the weekend, raising the possibility that the official "watch level" could be raised to protect vulnerable people.

Tuesday was the hottest day of the year so far with a temperature of 31.8C (89.2F) recorded in Wisley, Surrey.

Across Britain people cooled off in the sea and basked in the baking heat, while zoos took special measures to keep animals cool.
