Briton dies on honeymoon in Italy

Map of Italy

A British man has been killed in a road accident while on honeymoon in Italy, the Foreign Office has confirmed.

Ben Hallwood, 37, died following the crash in Borgo Pace in the Italian region of Marche.

The aircraft electrician was travelling with his wife Madeline Wesley, 42, who was also injured in the accident which took place on 19 June.

The couple were living in Barcelona having moved to the Spanish city from Plymouth, Devon.

They made headlines in 2007 when Mr Hallwood's car became stuck in floods while he was on his way to propose.

At that time, Mr Hallwood had left his workplace in Oxfordshire to head for a flight in Bristol.

However, his car was trapped in five feet of water in Wiltshire, forcing him to abandon it. He later had to pay £300 for it to be towed away.
