UK combat operations end in Iraq

After more than six years, the British combat mission in Iraq has finally come to an end. Britain has handed over operations in southern Iraq to the Americans, one month ahead of schedule.

A memorial service has been held in Basra Thursday for the 179 British service men and women who died during the conflict.
