Comedian David Walliams believes the offer of free swimming for people under 16 and over 60 in England will encourage more people to take the plunge.

The Little Britain star was at the Eltham swimming baths in south east London to promote the new initiative.

The £140m scheme will benefit 20 million people in areas where councils accepted government cash to cover the cost of the initiative.
