Heart surgery first for hospital

Two babies have undergone heart transplant surgery at the same hospital on the same day in what's believed to be a British medical first.

Only six heart transplants were carried out in children under two in the UK last year but surgeons at the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle operated on two children within minutes of one another.

Ten-month-old Ellen Walsh was born with two holes in her heart.

Her parents, Stefanie and Ian, have been talking to the BBC about their experience.
