Karen Matthews has been jailed for eight years for kidnapping her daughter, Shannon.

Detective Superintendent Andy Brennan, who led the investigation into the disappearance of the schoolgirl, told reporters he was 'very pleased' with the sentence. He also said that he stood by his earlier comments that Matthews was 'evil'.

Michael Donovan, who hid Shannon in his flat, was also jailed for eight years.
