Fallen remembered at arboretum

The national Armed Forces Memorial at Alrewas
The 90th anniversary of the armistice is being commemorated

Servicemen and women who have lost their lives in armed conflict have been remembered at the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire.

Two services, in the morning and afternoon, were held to give people the opportunity to attend other Remembrance Sunday events.

West Midlands Police Brass Band and Drums performed a sunset recital at the site's Millennium Avenue.

Armistice Day will be commemorated at the memorial in Alrewas on Tuesday.

The arboretum will play a key role in the national commemorations of the 90th anniversary of the armistice, which signalled the end of World War I.

It will be open to the public all day and there will be a ticket-only service at which all the armed forces are represented.

The stone-circle memorial bears the names of 16,000 service personnel who have died since World War II.
