US expats have been gathering at events in London to watch the results of the presidential election come in.

The US embassy in Grosvenor Square was the venue for a non-partisan event for American citizens.

Party campaign group Democrats Abroad held an event at the nearby Texas Embassy restaurant.

Big screens were also set up at the Planet Hollywood restaurant in the West End for supporters of both Barack Obama and John McCain.

Students at the London School of Economics also held a party to watch the results.
