Audio slideshow: The cult of the scooter

The Lambretta scooter ridden by actor Phil Daniels in the 1970s film Quadrophenia recently sold at auction for 36,000.

Not all scooters can boast such a famous history, but for enthusiasts - or scooterists as they are known - the bikes remain iconic symbols of the past.

For Radio 4's You and Yours, Stephanie Power joined the mods and skinheads at a rally at Bridlington in East Yorkshire - to see why the scooter has been so enduring.
