Man arrested under Terrorism Act

A police officer
Police are investigating an alleged threat to kill the prime minister

A 19-year-old man has been arrested in the Whitebirk area of Blackburn under the Terrorism Act.

Police say the arrest is connected to previous arrests in Blackburn, Derby and Accrington. An address in the Whitebirk area will be searched later.

Five men have been charged with terrorism offences following the Lancashire based investigation.

Those arrests came after an alleged threat was made to kill the Prime Minster Gordon Brown.

This latest arrest is part of a joint operation between Lancashire Police and the Greater Manchester counter terrorism unit.
