A senior police officer has been criticised for donning a Bin Laden fancy dress costume.
Chief Superintendent Colin Terry took part in a carnival in Cornwall dressed as the al-Qaeda leader, just days before the anniversary of the September 11th terror attacks on New York.
Devon and Cornwall police said in a statement it took the incident very seriously and had referred Chief Superintendent Terry to the Independent Police Complaints Commission.
The statement said: "Whilst we believe his actions were misguided rather than malicious, they were clearly inappropriate.'
