The Mayor of London Boris Johnson has opened a new cycling centre in Redbridge, London.

The centre cost some £4.5m and will be used in both competitions and by the wider community and will provide a training ground for future Olympic medal contenders.

A keen cyclist, the Mayor was lent a bike to make a circuit of the track with some of its other first users.
