Bereaved father was 'let down'

A report is published today into why two children who were killed by their mother were left in her care when she was known to be suffering from schizophrenia and had a history of violence .

Viviane Gamor had frequently disowned her children and was sectioned under the Mental Health Act for lunging at her half sister with a knife.

But after her release she was swiftly allowed unsupervised access to her children once more.

She battered her 10 year old son, Antoine, to death with a claw hammer and suffocated her 3 year old Kenniece with cling film at her flat in Hackney in January 2007 .

The children's father, Jimi Ogunkoya told the BBC that Hackney Children's Services and the East London and City Mental Health trust had failed to tell him about Ms Gamor's illness and had left the family 'to our own devices'.
