Council tax in England and Wales 2008/9
|
|
Council tax bills in England and Wales are set to rise by the smallest level for 14 years, according to The Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy.
Below is a table of all confirmed proposed charges for councils in England and Wales for the year 2008/9. The "New charge" column relates to average Band D equivalent excluding parish council and other precepts.
This can result in large differences between boroughs, as the precepts can make up the majority of the final bill.

Councils which have not yet ratified their charges have not been included, although their proposed figures have been factored into Cipfa's overall calculations.
Figures do not include precepts from other authorities (eg county council, police and fire). Unitary authorities are generally responsible for these services, so their budgets will include these.
