Officers said they were not looking for further suspects
A man has been charged with preparing a terror attack, police have said.

The 38-year-old from Birmingham's Small Heath district was charged on 22 December with one offence under section five of the Terrorism Act 2006.

He is due to appear again at the City of Westminster Magistrates' Court in London on Christmas Eve.

A West Midlands Police spokeswoman said: "Although the threat from terrorism is real, there is no cause for concern over this matter."

The spokesman added: "The charge relates to the alleged engagement in conduct for the preparation of an intention to commit an act of terrorism."

Police were not looking for anyone else in relation to the alleged crime, he said.
