Officers believe the men took drugs when they were out socialising
Police have issued a public warning after four men were found unconscious after apparently taking drugs on a night out.

They were found in Bishop Auckland town centre in the early hours of Saturday.

Officers from Durham Constabulary believe the men suffered a dangerous reaction to the substance, which has yet to be identified.

It is not known if they took it voluntarily. The men were taken to hospital and have been discharged.

Officers are now concerned for the welfare of the public in the Wear Valley area.

A police spokesman said: "Police are concerned that there is a possible threat to the life of any member of the public using this unknown substance and advise the public to be wary regarding the use of recreational drugs."
