Chelsea boss Abramovich divorces
Roman and Irina Abramovich
Roman Abramovich's fortune is estimated at 10.8bn
Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich, the owner of Chelsea Football Club, and his wife, Irina, have divorced.

Spokesman John Mann said the pair had reached an agreement about the custody of their five children and a financial settlement, but gave no details.

He said the couple, who have reportedly been married for 15 years, would not be making any further comment but that the divorce would not affect Chelsea.

Mr Abramovich, 40, has an estimated fortune of 10.8bn.

He also owns private investment company Millhouse Capital and is also governor of Chukotka, a remote region in Russia's far east across the Bering Strait from Alaska.

A statement released on behalf of the pair said: "Mr and Mrs Abramovich have divorced in Russia on a consensual basis and have agreed terms in respect of arrangements for their children and a financial settlement.

"Mr Abramovich's corporate interests, including Chelsea Football Club, are not affected by the divorce proceedings.

"Mr and Mrs Abramovich would appreciate it if the family's privacy would be respected.

"No further comment will be made."

Mr Abramovich took over Chelsea in 2003.
