A 24-year-old man has appeared in court accused of intending to help another person to commit terrorist acts.

Abdul Rahman, of Cheetham Hill, Manchester, who was arrested last month in the city, appeared at London's City of Westminster Magistrates' Court.

Mr Rahman will next appear on 23 February at the Old Bailey.

Between 13 April 2006 and 23 January, Mr Rahman was allegedly involved in helping someone who fled to Pakistan and whose whereabouts are unknown.

Mr Rahman, who was remanded in custody, spoke only to confirm his details.
