Sir Cliff Richard and Chris De Burgh will be among the stars performing at a tribute concert for Diana, Princess of Wales, in June.

Other performers taking part in the show on June 27 include Wet Wet Wet, Lesley Garrett, Julian Lloyd Webber, Jimmy Nail and the Chicken Shed Theatre Company.

The concert will take place in the Deer Park at Althorp, about a mile from the island in a lake where Diana is buried.

"Music was Diana's passion," said Diana's brother, Earl Spencer. "A concert seems an entirely fitting way to celebrate her life."

The Earl said the stars, from the worlds of classical music, opera and pop, were joining together to provide a unique evening of entertainment.

"It's important to remember that Diana's was a life worth celebrating, just as we all understand her death was worth mourning," he said.

Earl Spencer also said he hoped the event would raise a "significant sum" for the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fund.

A spokesman for IMG Arts and Entertainment, which is organising the event, said the concert would finish with a "magnificent" fireworks display. Concert-goers will not be allowed to visit Diana's grave.

A crowd of 15,000 people is expected at the event. Tickets will cost £39.50 and go on sale on Saturday via Ticketmaster or the Derngate Theatre in Northhampton.
