Two shot dead in East End pub
New Scotland Yard Police do not know the motive for the shooting

Masked gunmen burst into a busy pub in London's East End and shot two men dead.

In an attack bearing all the hallmarks of an organised criminal assassination the victims were specifically targeted by the gunmen, said police.

The attack, in the Beckton in Canning Town, took place at around 1520 GMT on Sunday.

Police said they were keeping an open mind on the motive for the double murder.

Both victims were middle-aged and white. Their killers left the pub on foot.

An air ambulance was called immediately after the shooting, but paramedics pronounced the victims dead at the scene about 20 minutes after the attack.

Police officers have appealed for witnesses to come forward.

A Scotland Yard spokesman said no further descriptions of the gunmen were available or information on the weapons used.

Anyone with information was asked to call the incident room at Arbour Square police station on 0171 275 4336 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
