Mother pleads for baby's return
A teenage mother who was sprayed with chemicals as her son was kidnapped has made an emotional plea for his return. Amy Grimshaw, 18, was walking in Hillary Road, in Bradford, West Yorkshire, when 14-month-old Daniel was abducted. Miss Grimshaw was sprayed in the face with chemicals. Daniel was driven away by two people in a blue Volvo and one of the kidnappers was wearing a balaclava. Miss Grimshaw told a news conference that the 10 days since the attack had been "like hell". She said: "Someone out there knows where he is. "We've never been apart, he's my best friend and my reason for getting up each day." 'Horrendous kidnapping' Miss Grimshaw said she has no idea where her son is and is not sure if he is still in the country. Detectives investigating the abduction are keen to speak to Daniel's father, Murhzar Mahmood, who is of Asian descent. Det Chief Supt Stuart Hyde, who is leading the inquiry, said: "We are treating this as an horrendous kidnapping from the streets of Bradford. "We will bring these people to justice. The disappointing thing is that there have not been any positive sightings of Daniel or his father." Baby ill Mr Hyde said it was possible that Daniel had contracted the human form of foot and mouth disease and urgently needed to be checked over by a doctor. One of the kidnappers is described as six foot, and he was wearing dark clothing and a balaclava. His accomplice was in his 20s, about five foot six inches tall, skinny and was wearing a green coat. Daniel was wearing beige trousers, a blue denim shirt, navy fleece jacket, a blue/green hat and training shoes. Anyone with information about Daniel or his kidnappers can contact the police in confidence on 01274 376059.
