The death of a father of three in Bristol is the latest in a line of high-profile stabbings.

Here are some of the recent cases which have been widely publicised.

30 May: A 29-year-old father of three dies after a stabbing incident in the Knowle area of Bristol.

It is understood to have happened as the man was walking home from a community event at a local youth club.

27 May: Student Tom Grant, 19, is stabbed to death on a train in Cumbria as he travels home to Gloucestershire from university.

Mr Grant was studying history and Arabic at St Andrews University in Fife and planned to join the Army when he graduated.

His parents Kenny and Patricia later pay tribute to their "A-grade son" who had "so much to live for".

Thomas Lee Wood, 21, from Skelmersdale, is charged with murder and is due to appear at Carlisle Crown Court on 7 June for a preliminary hearing.

26 May: A 14-year-old boy is wounded in the stomach in a stabbing outside his Birmingham school - Heartlands High School in Nechells.

He is in a stable condition at City Hospital after undergoing surgery.

Three 16-year-old boys are later arrested on suspicion of attempted murder before being released on bail.

18 May: Schoolboy Kiyan Prince, 15, is stabbed to death outside the London Academy in Edgware, north-west London.

A promising footballer who played for Queens Park Rangers' youth team, Kiyan dies from a single stab wound to the chest.

A 16-year-old boy is later arrested over his death.

The accused, who cannot be named because of his age, is charged with murder and remanded in custody until 12 June.

12 May: 21-year-old Carie Burns dies in hospital after she is allegedly stabbed twice with a samurai sword and then run over by a car after a house party in Blackhill, Consett, County Durham.

A 36-year-old man is charged with her murder and remanded in custody until 18 July.

11 May: Special constable Nisha Patel-Nasri, 29, is stabbed in the leg outside her home in Sudbury Avenue, Wembley, in north-west London.

Neighbours, who alerted police after they heard her scream, give her first aid but she is later pronounced dead in hospital.

A £30,000 reward is offered to help track down her killer.

21 April: Christopher Alaneme, 18, dies in what police believe is a racist attack on a night out in Sheerness, Kent. A second man, 29, is also stabbed, but survives.

Christopher, also known as Christian Roberts, was attacked in the High Street.

Five people are arrested and released on police bail on suspicion of murder and attempted murder and another man arrested and released in connection with the inquiry.

6 April: Nursing assistant Cheryl Moss is repeatedly stabbed while on a cigarette break behind St George's Hospital in Hornchurch, east London.

She is pronounced dead at the scene.

A man aged 18 is later charged with her murder. He appears at Enfield Magistrates' Court and is remanded in custody. He will next appear in court at the Old Bailey on 17 July.

2 March: The body of 11-year-old Joe Geeling is found in a park in Bury, Greater Manchester, a day after he vanished on his way home from school.

A post-mortem examination reveals Joe - who suffered from cystic fibrosis - died of multiple stab wounds.

A 14-year-old boy later admits to the killing.

The teenager was remanded back into secure local authority accommodation until a trial at Manchester Crown Court on 16 October.
