Briton shot dead in Thai resort

A British man has been shot and killed in the Thai holiday resort of Pattaya.

Thai police said Steven Parkinson, 47, who lived in the resort, was shot as he and a female companion left a bar on a motorbike early on Wednesday.

They were approached by two pairs of youths, also on motorbikes, who opened fire, killing Mr Parkinson. They then robbed them and fled, police added.

The Foreign Office said consular assistance was being offered to the dead man's family.
