The Daily Mirror says the White House is facing a huge scandal with a key aide to the vice president resigning after being accused of lying to a grand jury.
The Mirror says George Bush aide Karl Rove, who is under investigation for leaking CIA agent details, should go too.
And the Times thinks that with Mr Rove tied up with lawyers the White House is close to paralysis.
The waters of political scandal are now lapping close to the centre of US political power, the Independent warns.
'Very foolish'
According to the Daily Telegraph, Iran is now on an inevitable collision course with the west.
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's call for Israel to be "wiped off the map" is, says the Guardian, "very foolish".
No statement calling for Israel's destruction can be ignored - particularly when Iran may possess nuclear weapons in the future, it adds.
A more strident opinion comes from the Daily Express with the headline: "Maniac plots world war three."
No turkey?
The Daily Mail says that one devastating effects of bird flu could be to take turkey off the Christmas menu.
It reports fears that the 10 million birds destined for our dinner plates may have to be culled.
The Mail says stores have made contingency plans for large stocks of red meat, fish and vegetarian dishes.
Even if a mass cull is not needed, the Mail says it has evidence that shoppers are refusing to buy poultry because they are worried it will make them ill.
Diplomatic prince
The Daily Telegraph reports on Prince William's visit to Charlton's training ground to promote his role as future president of the Football Association.
The paper praises his diplomatic skills. When asked who would win the Premiership, William said it would be his team Aston Villa "if not Charlton".
The Sun reports that, facing penalties from youngsters at the training session, he conceded four in a row.
Young footballers chanted "dodgy keeper" at the prince, the Sun adds.
