Ethnic minority voters could be "critical" in 71 seats at the next General Election, according to campaign group Operation Black Vote (OBV).

Its research has pinpointed constituencies in England and Wales where it says the votes of ethnic minorities could be decisive in determining the outcome at the next General Election.

The organisation used 2001 census data and information from local election offices to work out what proportion of ethnic minority adults needed to turn out to vote to potentially change the result in their constituency.

OBV's study showed minority voters' biggest influence could be in Cheadle, Cheshire - the UK's most marginal seat, followed by multi-ethnic Brent East in north-west London.
