A Birmingham teenager has been found dead after she was swept away trying to cross a stream as heavy rain and flash floods hit the Turkish resort Bodrum.
The body of Kayleigh Kim Lavill, 17, is understood to have been found soon afterwards more than a mile away.
She is believed to have been staying with a family member. Her next-of-kin in Britain have been informed.
A British Embassy spokesman in Ankara said police were preparing a report into the incident.
"We understand the girl slipped and was swept away. Her body was found later," said a Foreign Office spokesman.
Heavy rain in the Aegean resort has led to overflowing streams, which have flooded several buildings.
Ms Lavill, a former Aston Villa Ladies footballer, was from Castle Vale, where floral tributes have been laid in the front garden of her home.
One of her friends, 17-year-old Charlie Coley, said the local community was in shock at news of her death.
"Kayleigh was a lovely girl, so popular and got on with everyone.
"She was just a really nice person and a bit of a tomboy who was into her sport, especially football."
Ms Coley said Ms Lavill usually visited Turkey with her aunt twice a year.
"She loved the place and loved the people," she said.
