Wednesday, August 25, 1999 Published at 17:00 GMT 18:00 UK UK Picture gallery: Millennium Dome ![]() There are just 18 weeks to go until opening night at London's Millennium Dome. It is a deadline organisers say they cannot and will not miss.
The "blue Smartie" takes shape - inside it will be the Home Planet zone, which will give visitors an imaginary ride from outer space to Planet Earth.
Still under wraps, the shape of the giant asexual body is just perceptible. Site of the body zone, visitors will go inside the body to see what makes humans tick.
Part of the casing of the Home Planet zone, the 32.5 metre-wide spaceport "Intergalactwick" will have room for 270 passengers.

A London double-decker bus brought into the dome to give an impression of how large the structure is.
