Pilot killed in plane crash
The plane crashed into a Snowdonia mountainside
A pilot has been killed after a light aircraft crashed into a mountain in Snowdonia.
The Apache twin-engined plane hit the ground 200ft below the summit of 2,566ft Moel Hebog, near Beddgelert.
There were no passengers aboard the aircraft, which is believed to have taken off from Caernarfon airport.
An RAF rescue helicopter from Valley in Anglesey airlifted the pilot's body to Ysbyty Gwynedd Hospital at Bangor.
The man has not yet been identified by police.
The RAF helicopter, the North Wales police helicopter, the Aberglaslyn and Ogwen Valley mountain rescue teams, and fire crews, were sent to the scene.
Search for microlight
Meanwhile, a search is underway for a microlight aircraft, which was seen spinning out of control above hills on the Monmouthshire-Gloucestershire border.
Gloucestershire and Gwent police are now searching the area.
The alarm was raised by a man in the Monmouth area, who reported seeing the craft in difficulty.
