Friday, July 9, 1999 Published at 04:46 GMT 05:46 UK UK Jagger divorce proceedings begin ![]() Jagger's lawyers will argue that the marriage was invalid Divorce proceedings between Mick Jagger and Jerry Hall are due to begin in the High Court in London on Friday.
Jagger, the lead singer of the Rolling Stones, and Ms Hall are not expected to be present in court.
Jagger's legal team is expected to claim at a later full hearing that he was never validly married to Ms Hall at their Hindu wedding in Indonesia in 1991. But lawyers for Ms Hall, who is seeking £30m from the singer, will claim that her marriage to Jagger on the holiday isle of Bali was valid. Even if Jagger is successful in having the marriage declared null and void, Ms Hall's lawyers are likely to claim that she is entitled to a settlement on the same scale as if she had been his wife. Ms Hall, 43, started divorce proceedings earlier this year after learning that Brazilian model Luciana Morad, 29, was pregnant following an alleged affair with Jagger, 55.
