King Hussein memorial service in pictures



British and Jordanian royal families and political leaders have paid tribute to the late King Hussein of Jordan, in a memorial service reflecting the close links between the two countries.

Queen Noor, the widow of King Hussein, led the mourners at the service at St Paul's Cathedral in London.

The Prince of Wales told the congregation of more than 2,000 that King Hussein was "an enlightened spirit".

Queen Rania, the wife of King Hussein's son and successor King Abdullah, joined in the Muslim and Christian service.

Members of many European royal families attended, including Queen Sofia of Spain.

Current and former UK Prime Ministers Tony Blair and Baroness Thatcher led a substantial contingent of British political figures.

Mr Blair's predecessor as Prime Minister, John Major, was at the service.

As was former British PM Sir Edward Heath.
