Huntley injured in prison attack
Ian Huntley
Huntley was sentenced to two life sentences in 2003
Soham child killer Ian Huntley was attacked and injured in jail, a prison source has said.

Huntley, jailed for murdering 10-year-olds Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman, was hit in the face by a fellow inmate at Belmarsh jail, south east London.

He was believed to have suffered only "minor bruising" after the prisoner approached him on Thursday outside his cell.

A Prison Service spokeswoman said she could not discuss individual cases.

Huntley was taken to the prison's health unit.

It is thought to be the first time Huntley has been attacked in jail since he was arrested in 2002 and held on remand.

He was handed two life sentences by the Old Bailey in December.
