Several of the demonstrators carried posters and banners backing air strikes and calling for the use of ground troops. Kreshnik Cela, at the Albanian Community Centre in Kilburn, north London, said the rally was held "to show the British public that we support Nato totally".
"The British public have been subjected to seeing a lot of Serb demonstrations which are anti-Nato. "We have called on the whole Albanian community, 90% of which are Kosovan Albanians, to show their support for Nato air strikes. "Today we will be waving the British flag." He said the past week at the community centre had been "chaos". "We have been inundated with people trying to get any information, or get in contact with their relatives back home," he said. "People have been desperate just to hear that their families are alive and safe." Cardiff march Earlier a demonstration against the Nato bombing was staged by Green Party in Cardiff. Members of the public joined the march through the city centre, finishing at City Hall. The demonstrators then held a meeting at the nearby Temple of Peace. A party spokesman described the bombing campaign as "misguided attacks on a civilian population". |
