A Catholic priest who had been charged with 29 sex offences against young boys has been found dead at his home in the Irish Republic.
Father Sean Fortune had denied committing the offences between 1981 and 1987.
His trial had been due to start at the beginning of this month but it was delayed after the court heard he was unwell.
On Monday he was granted bail by the High Court in Dublin and ordered to
undergo psychiatric assessments at the Central Mental Hospital, Dundrum, south
Dublin, to determine his fitness to plead at the hearing.
Police said a post mortem was to be carried out
but initial investigations suggested there was no criminal involvement.
