Hurley 'stalker' remanded in custody
Liz Hurley
The arrest came hours after Liz Hurley gave birth
A man accused of stalking actress Liz Hurley has been remanded in custody.

Petar Mihajlovic, 32, appeared at West London Magistrates Court on Friday.

He gave his address as Orchid Avenue, Hollywood, California, and was charged under section two of the Protection from Harassment Act 1997 with harassing Miss Hurley on or before 4 April, 2002.

District Judge Simon Cooper refused bail and the case was adjourned for a week.

His arrest on Thursday came hours after Hurley - one of the most photographed women in the world and the former face of Estee Lauder cosmetics - gave birth to a baby boy.

Hurley's spokesman said both mother and child are "happy and healthy".

The actress has named her son Damian Charles.

'Single mother'

The question of the identity of the baby's father has led to a public argument between Hurley and her former boyfriend Steve Bing.

Hurley says Bing is the child's father but TV producer Bing says he does not believe it.

She announced she was pregnant in November last year.

"Elizabeth Hurley is delighted to confirm that she is expecting a baby in April and Stephen Bing is the father," she said in a statement.

But Bing was reported as saying that the couple had not had an "exclusive" relationship and that it had been Hurley's "choice to be a single mother".

Hurley said she was deeply hurt by his comments.

Bing was reported as wanting a DNA test to prove paternity, which could not be done before the baby's birth.

However, Hurley later expressed hopes that the matter could be resolved without resorting to lawyers.

Support

Millionaire Bing is the grandson of a New York real estate magnate.

He has worked as a screenwriter, producer and director on movies including Married With Children and Get Carter.

If the baby were proved to be his, Hurley would be entitled to a substantial portion of Bing's fortune for child support.

Her former boyfriend Hugh Grant promised to stick by her throughout her pregnancy and has been pictured with her in both London and the US.

But the Notting Hill actor denied he would be the baby's godfather.

Hurley's 13-year relationship with Grant ended more than a year ago.
