Ray Lee killed PC Phillip Walters, 28, in east London after police were called to a domestic incident. He was sentenced to an 18-year jail sentence in 1996 after being convicted of manslaughter. Lee, 32, said he was at the scene to intimidate another man. He has always claimed another officer at the scene accidentally pulled the trigger on his gun. He began legal action against the Metropolitan Police in the summer, seeking compensation for the toothcap, and a jacket and bodywarmer taken for forensic tests and later destroyed by police. A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: "The claimant was entitled under civil law for compensation for his possessions, and his claim was settled with a payment of £100." |
